Building the church beyond its walls |

Habitat for Humanity exists because we view the task of relieving the burden of poverty as a community responsibility. HFHSVV cannot accomplish its mission without the involvement of the community. We rely on the generosity and cooperation of the people, tradesmen, civic organizations, businesses and local government of our community to be able to provide simple, decent, affordable houses to deserving families. But maybe even more important than all these groups is the involvement of the churches of our community.
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian organization. We are founded on and cling to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is why we do what we do. We do not, however, require everyone who is involved with our organization to share our beliefs: not our volunteers, not our board members, not our homeowners. We rely on the cooperation and involvement of the local church body to make a clear and eloquent statement about our mission. |
